The Swiss Resort of Engelberg
Last year was very stressful
for my husband and me. We are both doctors, and we have lots of work to do all
the time. Therefore,
we decided to make a gift to ourselves and spend our holidays abroad, in Switzerland. Since my husband and I are very fond of skiing, the problem
of choice is choosing a good ski resort. We decided to visit Switzerland
ski resorts of Engelberg. Mount Titlis is the highest point in central
Switzerland and a favorite tourist place of excursions. Spectacular views
open from oriented rotating cabin lift Rotair. There are ice grotto, an
ice park and a panoramic restaurant with the highest mountain in the world
pizzeria on the mountain. We can take a tour to the Benedictine monastery
in this ski resort. The city has a sports center with indoor pool, solarium,
rooms for tennis, badminton, skating rink and a wall for climbers. Casino,
three discos, shops and boutiques, 40 bars, cafes and restaurants in the
village and 20 restaurants in the mountains of Switzerland entertain guests
in the evenings.
The resort has two separate areas of skating. This is very good for people
who have just started to learn this sport. Area Brunni is recommended mostly
for beginners and family skating. This is the northern slopes of the valley
with five lifts: cabin, seat, and three rope tows. There are 12 kilometers
of route (5 km of “red”, 7 km of “blue”) and learning
slopes.
The second, the main ski area is located to the south and has an interesting
topography. There are two huge step-plateau: Gershnialp with yokes and “blue” training
routes. Wide stage Tryubzee with frozen lake, where you can climb into the
cockpit on a fairly sophisticated skiing of northern slopes of the Titlis,
is above Gershnialp. The next, the lower half of three-kilometer route Rotegg
will become a serious challenge even for a professional.
Of course, we decided to avoid very hard route. Despite the
fact that we are very fond of skiing, we do not have enough experience to pass
such a dangerous
track. Area Brunni was the best decision for us, and we were very happy! In
addition, we enjoyed not only on skiing! There are 41 km cross country trails,
45 km of marked hiking routes and three toboggan routes at the resort. We tried
to ride a sled! It was a feeling like you at the time of childhood!
